Turkey Popular in 2010
Further to previous reports from Overseas Network, research is continuing to show that Turkey is set to remain as a popular tourism destination in 2010.
According to the American Express, and their Global Foreign Exchange Services Currency Index, Turkey became increasingly popular this year as a Summer holiday destination, with more favourable exchange rates with sterling than the euro. This saw a 26 per cent increase for Turkish Lira so far in 2009.
The American Express also reported that despite the restraints of the financial climate, British sun-seekers remain hooked on summer vacations abroad. But with Turkey offering guaranteed sunshine and unrivalled beaches, it is perhaps understandable why British families have continued to push the boat out and venture abroad for their vacations.
American Express trading and business director, Terry Perrin revealed: "Currency sales in the third quarter of this year remain on par with previous years, suggesting that despite the tightening of the purse strings up and down the country, Brits are just not prepared to forego their annual summer holiday."
